QUALIFICATIONS ASSESSMENT CPA Australia provides assessments of quali- fications on a fee-for-ser vice basis for those who hold non-accredited overseas qualifi- cations and who wish to become members. Also, CPA Australia has been gazetted by the Minister, Department of Immigration and Citizenship as an assessing authority for accountants who are seeking an assessment in connection with the permanent resident visa process. In 2007 CPA Australia assessed over 9000 applications. The assessment fee for this service is A$350. From 1 January 2008, the Qualifications Assessment fee will be rebated for those who become members and enrol in the CPA Program. The turnaround time for applicants with CPA Australia-accredited degree studies or membership with a recognised professional body is two to three weeks and three to four weeks for those applicants who have an overseas non-accredited degree.
